Trust Score

Search Engine giant Google is all set to begin a new login method that could replace passwords with a ‘trust-based’ system that analyses how you use your phone.

The company has proposed ‘trust scores’ that will chalk out the need to remember the numerical and linguistic credentials needed to unlock a phone. In its place the company has suggested ‘Trust API’ for Android smartphones. The Trust API would work on a number of personal indicators including your voice, your face, how you type, how you swipe, how you move and your location in relation to known Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth devices.

Trust scores would vary from games to banking apps where security is at high risk i.e. a banking app would require higher trust scores than a gaming app. The Trust API is part of the Project Abacus which was unveiled at Google’s I/O developer conference. The trust score determines whether the person using the phone is actually you or not.
