Researchers Develop Technique to Create 3D Mini Brains

Mini Brains
Researchers from Brown University have developed a technique to create 3D miniature brains that can be used to transmit electrical synapses which could prove to be an efficient way of conducting neuroscience research.

In addition, the brains could be used for testing drugs and neural tissue transplants, and for experimenting how stem cells work. The brains closely resemble the cell makeup and structures of real brains although they are devoid of thinking ability.

The naturally shaped brains measure just a third of a millimetre wide with a density similar to rodent brains. There are possibilities that these brains could be used in vitro model which may reduce animal use during experiments.
