Walk for Life

A study published in the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity explains that swapping just one hour of sitting with walking or other physical activity every day can reduce chances of early death by 12-14 percent.

Although previous researches have shown benefits of adequate sleep and physical activity, this is the first of a kind study which shows the benefit of swapping one hour of daily sitting with an equal amount of another activity. The study also establishes that swapping one hour of daily sitting with standing reduces the chances of early death by 5 percent.

Moreover, the study reveals how bigger a challenge inactivity is. Researchers for the study used statistical modelling of health-related data which involved examining more than 200,000 randomly sampled middle aged and older Australians for four years.
