Moon Music
The American Space Agency NASA publicly revealed an audio file in which, the Apollo 10 astronauts were heard conversing about an ‘eerie’ and an ‘outer spacey’ music as they crossed over to the dark side of the moon. Since the music was heard on the dark side of the moon, it is unlikely that the mysterious music came from the range of earthly radio transmissions.
The declassified files feature a conversation between Apollo 10 astronauts Eugene Cernan, John Young and Thomas P Stafford. Below is the transcript of the conversation:
Eugene: That music even sounds outer–spacey, doesn’t it? You hear that? That whistling sound?
Thomas: Yes.
Eugene: Whooooo.
John: Did you hear that whistling sound, too?
Eugene: Yes. Sounds like–you know, outer–spacey–type music.
John: I wonder what it is.
Although the charged particles appeared through the movement of Saturn’s environment, a similar sound was picked up by the Cassini spacecraft when it entered Saturn’s orbit in July 2004. The moon, on the other hand, does not have an atmosphere or a magnetic field. Scientists argue that the sound may have originated due to the interference of two radios, one each on the lunar module and command module. While the transcripts were released in 2008, the audio file of the discussion as well as the sounds of the astronauts referring to the unusual music is released now. The audio files will be aired on Science Channel series of the ‘NASA’s Unexplained Files’.
