Next Gen Humans
Scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed a new form of hydrogel that can look and feel like muscles and tendons. They claim that this gel could contain tiny electronics that can monitor our insides, deliver medicine or even provide needed electrical stimulus.
The hydrogel being flexible can bend and twist without breaking or tearing and since the human body is made from similar materials, chances are little that it would reject the hydrogel as a foreign object.
At present, many such devices are made from hard and rigid pieces of silicon and plastic which makes them hostile to the body. The new product could pave the way for an entirely new class of medical devices, something that could mark the birth of cyborgs.
