Flexi–Vision

Japan’s Shinoda Plasma Co. demonstrated a prototype of a plasma screen, which can roll up like a carpet, one of its kind, at the Display Week 2013 conference in Vancouver. This marvel won the Best Prototype award at the event.

It has been named Luminous Array Film or LAFI and the display makes use of a thousand tiny glass tubes instead of the conventional single flat sheet of glass. Each tube is about 1 mm in diameter and the entire panel can be rolled into a cylinder less than 4 inches across.

The tiny tubes are hollow and can hold inert gas and phosphorus, which are essential to enable light to create an image on the screen. The plasma screen is a valued invention at a time where everyone is facing space constraint.
