Those who are ignorant of the supreme purpose of life will never be able to attain nirvana (liberation) in spite of their observance of the vratas (vows) and niyamas (rules) of religious conduct and practice of shila (celibacy) and tapas (penance).
Learning is the greater personality of man; it is his hidden and safely deposited wealth; it is the teacher of teachers; it is a kinsman. Learning promotes an indescribable happiness at all times.
God’s purpose in creating the universe was to feel happiness when He saw the purpose of goodness fulfilled in the Heavenly Kingdom, which the whole of Creation, including man, could have established.
One who identifies himself with his soul regards bodily transmigration of his soul at death fearlessly, like changing one cloth for another.
Everything is the Supreme Being, which is Existence – consciousness - bliss, and ‘I am That’. By constantly cultivating this pure thought, get rid of impure thoughts. Then discarding even that thought and always inhering in the state of fullness, you will become the non-dual and undifferentiated Supreme Being and attain liberation.
The gods and demons were rivals of each other. The demons, swollen with pride, said, “In what, pray, should we place the oblation?” And they proceeded to place it in their own mouths.
We sing the glory of Sri Krishna, who is all truth, all consciousness and all bliss, who is responsible for creation, sustenance and destruction of the universe, and who puts an end to the threefold agony.
The worthy person is grateful and mindful of benefits done to him. This gratitude, this mindfulness, is congenial to the best people.
Not knowing the consequence of good and evil karmas, he is afflicted and hurt. Nevertheless, he, due to his egotism, piles up more karmas and undergoes births and deaths again and again.
The mode of living which is founded upon a total harmlessness towards all creatures upon a minimum of such harm is the highest morality.
