To uphold righteousness, so supreme an act did he perform; he gave his head, but did not utter a word of sorrow. This is peace, this is excellent, namely the calm of all impulses, the casting out of all “basis”, the extinction of craving, dispassion, stopping-nirvana.
Food to a large extent is what holds a society together and eating is closely linked to deep spiritual experiences.
